things to remember
What should I do to prepare for my first session?
1
Before our first session, you will need to fill out the paperwork I send to you from Simple Practice. These documents will include an informed consent form, which ensures clients fully understand the nature of therapy, my practice policies, your client rights, a fee agreement, and an intake form.
You may also want to jot down a few notes about what your goals are, what you hope to touch on in the first session, and any questions you might have for me about the process or our work together.
What if I need to reschedule?
2
Not a problem at all! Life happens — I get it. If you cancel or reschedule your appointment within 24 hours of the start time, you avoid incurring a late fee. If you cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours in advance, you will be charged the full session fee.
Will you be able to fix me?
3
Absolutely not. Everybody’s brain works differently, and that’s okay. The problem isn’t that you are broken — it’s that you think you are. We’ll work to repair that faulty thinking and find a way to move forward with compassion.
How can I contact you?
4
You can reach me anytime via our contact page or email. I aim to respond at the speed my nervous system allows — which is usually within the same week!
What are the limits of the therapeutic relationship?
5
Though deeply connecting and authentic, the therapeutic relationship is limited to that of therapy. To protect clients from imbalances in relationship and to preserve the work we do together, there are certain limits in place, including:
Even though I think you are really cool, we can’t be friends outside of session.
We will not contact each other on social media for any reason.
I am not able to be your emergency contact. If you are in crisis, please seek immediate support.
