about homebody therapy

Homebody Therapy is a private mental health therapy practice dedicated to nurturing and supporting individuals, couples, and families in pursuit of growth and healing. At Homebody, I prioritize authenticity and connection and and strive to create a safe, accepting environment for everyone. As someone who knows the view from the client couch just as well as the therapist chair, I understand the courage it takes to start. My goal is to offer a safe, compassionate space where those first steps toward healing feel not just manageable, but empowering. I offer in-person sessions off the square in Winchester and telehealth services to residents across Tennessee for flexible, accessible support.

Before I listened to people for a living, I was listening to people for a living. I worked as a journalist both in Nashville and Sewanee for several years, and that involved a lot of interviews for the stories I’d write. It’s impossible to put into words how meaningful it was to hear to people tell their stories in their own words, and now, to not only get to listen but be part of helping outline the next chapter of growth and healing is beyond my wildest dreams.

I was born and raised in Winchester — it will always be home to me, and if you’re from here too, chances are you know my people. It’s the way of the place here. Everybody is connected by an invisible string.

In my work, I care deeply about creating a space where people feel safe to be real, messy, and human, about demonstrating to clients that there is room to learn to practice self-compassion and finding joy even in the toughest moments.

If you are looking for a “blank slate” therapist or someone who will just ask you how something makes you feel on repeat, I’m probably not the therapist for you. I feel that it’s important for me to show up as myself in the therapy space — while maintaining appropriate boundaries — because I believe in the healing power of authentic connection.

Sessions with me are honest, thoughtful, and usually a little bit silly; laughter is one of the best medicines there is! I often utilize a direct, relational approach, and my clients have said that I make them think about things in ways they never have before.
